I hope everyone enjoyed their spring break and had some time to relax.
I apologize for the lack of photographs on this post.
I had to buy a new phone over the weekend and have not figured out how to
move my pictures to the blog.
I hope to have that glitch cleared up as soon as possible!
We were busy learning new targets immediately on Monday morning!
Our focus in math has been learning about fractions. The students have been working with equal parts, the fraction of a shape that is shaded ( or unshaded), equivalent fractions, and fractions of a group.
Today we had some fun working with a group to determine equivalent fractions - still a little tricky!
Some students were able to play a basketball fraction game with Mrs. Angel, and we decorated Fraction Freddy and Fraction Fannie.
In social studies we worked with a partner to create an avatar on voki that explains two different landforms.
Next week we will begin our new science unit on insects.
We will study the monarch butterfly, milkweed bugs, ants, crickets, and meal worms.
We had a wonderful author visit the school on Tuesday.
Aaron Reynolds came to talk to Ivy Hall students about what inspired him to love books, how he finally became an author, the work that he does, and the process for getting his stories to become actual books.
He read his story Creepy Carrots to us. There is nothing quite like having an author read his own to story to you. Amazing!
Enjoy the warmer weekend and I will see you next week at conferences.
