One final week to go before winter break...I can't believe how time is flying!
We spent this week continuing to look at character traits. We created a project using our own personal character traits. They are adorable!
We read Hedgehog Bakes a Cake and worked in groups to determine traits for hedgehog and a group of characters (rabbit, squirrel, and owl) who came to assist hedgehog.
Our next step was to compare and contrast the traits of these two different groups and use support from the text.
In math we have been discussing 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes.
When talking about these shapes at home, please encourage the use of good math vocabulary.
2D vocabulary
sides, corners, square corners,
polygon, quadrangles,
parallel, symmetrical
3D vocabulary
faces, curved face, flat face
vertex, vertices
edges, base
We worked with partners to practice using these new math words and to help us practice extending our 2 dimensional shape target.
We read 2 winter poems and have added them to our poetry binder.
We used these poems to work on the comprehension skill of visualization.
The students picked one of the poems and painted what they pictured in their mind.
