Extending our knowledge of money
Reading non-fiction and fiction texts about fire safety.
First we read with a partner, then we talked about what similarities and differences.
This helped us with our target of comparing and contrasting information from two different
sources.
Finally we put the information on a Venn Diagram.
Wednesday we went on our field trip to Long Grove Confectionery!
We had a great time seeing producers in action and especially being consumers of chocolate!
Thank you to Mrs. Dluger (Joshua's mom), Mrs. Wegrzyn (Ben's mom), Mrs. Piepenbrink (Noah's mom), and Mrs. Kapoor (Nick's mom) for chaperoning our trip!

Waiting to watch the video about how chocolate is made and the history of Long Grove Confectionery. |

The Statue of Liberty. It started as a 3000 pound block of chocolate. Its final weight after carving is 2500 pounds! |
Mandy and Ben reported back to the class about Thursday's student council meeting.
We read a story about the different ways animals sleep.
Then we used the story to help us practice our informative/explanatory paragraph writing.
Here we are with our completed brainstorming papers.
Next week we will finish planning and write our first paragraph independently.
Today we finally met our 4th grade buddies from Mrs. Abel's class!
They helped us follow directions to draw a jack o' lantern. Then they decorated the picture to show what they have in common with each other.
Luckily the Packers fans ended up together! :)
We started learning about the water cycle in science.
In order to observe the evaporation of water we filled a cup with water and drew a line on the outside to show the water level.
We are going to check the water level on Monday to see what happens.
We played Boo! Bump! To practice adding 3 addends.
Another amazing week in second grade!
